Aristocrat Slots ‘The Phantom’ Reboot Into Las Vegas Casinos
August 15, 2025
The second version of The Phantom has been released onto casino floors by Aristocrat Gaming, the second-largest slot machine manufacturer in the world behind IGT. Based on the first masked superhero in popular media, the new slot machine is currently live at six Las Vegas locations: Resorts World and The Venetian on the Strip, El Cortez and Circa downtown, and the Palms and Rampart off-Strip.
The game, which is based on Aristocrat's new Baron Upright cabinet, has triggers taken from the original 1936 comic strip, bonus meters, immersive graphics and sound, and progressive jackpots starting at $10,000.
“We are thrilled to once again introduce The Phantom to casino players with a game packed with excitement and adventure, on the latest hardware,” said Kurt Gissane, Aristocrat’s Chief Revenue Officer, in a press release. “The Phantom has a legion of fans across the globe, and we’re excited for them to experience this new iteration.”
Menaced by the First Phantom Slot
After making its debut in Australia in 2009, this is the company's second Phantom slot. Although it reached the US, the initial version wasn't a huge success.
The company, which is now well-known for blockbuster hits like Buffalo, Lightning Link, and Dragon Link, is placing a significant wager that its significantly greater US market saturation would contribute to the brand's wider appeal.
The Phantom's seemingly eternal presence is his superpower. Also known as The Ghost Who Walks, he isn’t just one man. He’s the 21st in a series of crimefighters dating back to 1536, when the first swore a pledge to battle evil after his father was slaughtered by pirates.
Today’s Phantom, Kit Walker, carries on the legacy from his underground Skull Cave in the imaginary African nation of Bangalla.
Owned by King Features Syndicate, the character has been licensed to comic giants DC and Marvel, starring in scores of comics and graphic novels, five TV episodes, and two films — the 1943 original and a cult-favorite 1996 remake starring Billy Zane.
Slot machines are not the only place where the Phantom is making a comeback. Earlier this year, Art of Play Interactive produced the first original Phantom video game, and a new comic series from Mad Cave Studios is due to start in September.
Aristocrat officials said further Southern Nevada installations of The Phantom slot machine are planned.
